Legal Question in Family Law in Maine

I am a defendant in a family matters case. It is coming up for trial and I'm trying to find out if I can get a court appointed laywer to represent me.

You cannot. Court appointed lawyers are only used for cases in which the State of Maine is a party and there is some form of constitutional right at jeopardy. Family matters are considered civil in nature and therefore, they do not meet the criteria required to request that the State of Maine appoint and pay for you to be represented by an attorney.
