Legal Question in Family Law in Maine

Legally disowning a child.

Is it possible to disown a child legally? I'm concerned about having a will disputed, once this child finds out there is nothing left for him.

Re: Legally disowning a child.

Is the child an adult or minor? Is there someone who will immediately adopt the child? Would the child consent to a termination of your parental rights?

Perhaps another way to look at the issue is in the Will itself. It is not uncommon for a Will to refer to a child and specify that for whatever reason, they are to be treated as if they predeceased and receive nothing, or the child may be left something, but the Will specifies that if the Will is challenged and the Child did not do so in good faith for good reason, then they are to receive nothing.
