Legal Question in Family Law in Maine
Potential father's right to know paternity
If a man thinks he might be the father of a child but the mother refuses to allow a paternity test, what rights does he have? Can she come back years from now looking for child support even if she currently refuses the DNA test?

Re: Potential father's right to know paternity
Unfortunately I cannot answer your question directly based upon the information you have provided. I suggest that you meet with a local practioner to consult regarding your rights and the specific facts.
However, with that said, generally speaking, if a lawsuit is commenced to determine Parential Rights & Responsibilities, it will place all issues, including DNA, squarely into the Court's lap, and it may issue Orders it deems appropriate.
