Legal Question in Family Law in Maine

Unborn child issues

I am currently living with a boyfriend of over 3 years. We have had many problems over the 3 years. I am 3 months pregnant with his child and he continues to threaten to take my unborn child away from me. What would be my best course of action, so this does not happen when the child is born?

Re: Unborn child issues

I'm certain that others have said this to you: leave your boyfriend immediately. Once the child is born, you should file an action for parental rights and responsibilities and request child support from him. Depending on your financial circumstances, you may be able to have the filing fees waived. You may also qualify for free legal counsel through the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, through Pine Tree Legal Assistance or through the Volunteer Lawyers Program.
