Legal Question in Family Law in Maine
yo i am currently living with my father and he hits me when hes mad even if its something little like i didnt cover the food up when i put it in the microwave andhe starts to slander me so i tell him he needs to cool off and he belts me across the face
im a male and im 19 can i press charges for DV or assault and i also have social sercurity income to help me because im working part time less than 6 hrs and i get in SSI a total of $400.00 a month and i can only work under 20hrs a week and the money goes into my dads acount cause i dont own a credit card and our family doesnt trust banks so we use a credit union but at one point i was working a summer job and i bought a xbox360 elite which costed me just about $500.00 and took me 6 weeks of manual labor to get from my job as a farm hand since i bought it with my own money and my dad pretty much says he has a right to take it out of my room can i charge him with grand larceny cause i bought it and it was over $400.00

You can get a protection order against your father - go to the local courthouse for assistance. Since you are 19, if you can move out that may be best. You should also set up your own bank account or account with the credit union to keep your funds separate.
