Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maine

Federal law regarding mail boxes

In the 1970's the courts ruled that ''the person who owned a mail box has the right to have items placed in the mail box''. The suit was brought by a citizen against the postal service. I am trying to locate that and associated decisions. I first saw the ruling in Law review magazine while in a law office.

I'm not aware of that decision and don't know how to tell you how to find it. However, my understanding of Federal law is that only the U.S.Postal service has the right to put anything into a mailbox. If anyone else does puts anything in a mailbox, it's a federal crime.
