Legal Question in Immigration Law in Maine
devorce after getting green card
I've just got my green card second time which will expire in 10 years. We have been married for almost 4 years. We want to ger divorce as soon as possible because our marriage did not work out but I just wanted to make sure that there will be no changes in my immigration status and that there are no rules about the time you have to stay mattied after receiving the green card
Thank you

Re: devorce after getting green card
As long as you have no criminal charges or convictions pending, you should be fine. Notably, you will be eligible for citizenship five years after acquiring your initial green card, rather than three years now that you are no longer married to / living with your petitioning spouse.
