I would like to use one song on a promotional dvd. What do I need to do to protect my non-profit foundation?

Use of copyrighted materials such as songs without permission of the copyright holder(s) is copyright infringement unless there is some extenuating circumstance (nonprofit status is not an extenuating circumstance). Your use may require a license that can be granted by the copyright holder.
