Can you paint the Red Sox logo on items to sell without permission from the company?

Not without getting yourself sued for trademark infringement. Losing that suit would involve destruction or confiscation of the goods, corrective advertising to be paid for by you, payment of all damages they suffer by your infringement, disgorgement of all profits gained from selling the goods, other damages as the court sees fit, and possibly treble all that plus their attorneys' fees and all court costs.
