Legal Question in Employment Law in Maine

Signing final check - wave rights to sue?

I disagree with the amount sent to me in my final check (includes salary, expenses, and revenue sharing). The ''Memo'' portion of the check states - ''final & total payment for all salary, commissions, expenses and claims''.

By cashing the check, am I waving my rights to sue?

Thank you.

If you cash the check, you may indicate your agreement to the "terms." If the amount owed is significant enough, I would suggest not cashing the check and demanding any remaining payment.
