Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Maine

Curious as to local laws regarding landlords, tenants and subleasers/ings
I have a simple question regarding the local Maine laws (Lewiston to be exact) regarding the relationship of landlords , tenants and subleasers. Is it unlawful to sublease? If not, what are proper precautions taken so that the sublease is arranged lawfully? Thanks for your time.

Not familiar with Maine law, but usually it is a matter between landlord and tenant.

Check the lease 1st, then check with a local real estate atty.
