Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Maine

I was a tenant for 2 years, signing a lease for those 2 years. The third year I did not sign a lease (in the same apartment) and I was asked to leave during the 6th month of the fourth year living there without resigning a lease because my boyfriend frequently visited with his dog. Upon being asked to leave, I did so without trouble in the time allotted. I left the apartment spotless with no damage. I was wondering if I an legally allowed to get my security deposit back.
