Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maine

severe injury on jobsite

my name is dave--name removed--and i own my construction buisness. Approx. 5 weeks ago i had a severe leg injury occure on the job when a concrete slab collappesd under me and causeing my leg to rip wide open. I spent a day in the trama center and a week in the hospital. I have just started back to work at about 60% capacity. I have a limp, many scars, daily dressings to change etc. My costs associated with this are significant and climbing. We are not sure of the long term prognosses, medically or financially. The home at which this accident occured was built 22 years ago. The accident occured because the previouse builder decided to side step a local code and support a concrete slab improperly, thus causeing it to collapes.I do not have workers comp. on myself as i am the president of my corp.Do we have a case against his liability policy?, especially when there is clear negligence? This builder still lives in the area and was incorporated, but we do have complete info on him. Sincerely Dave--name removed--
