Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maine
Disputed Earnest Money
We signed a form disputing the return of earnest money because they backed out of the sale of our house 2 days before closing. We have since sold the property and moved from Maine to Florida. They want to deal now.
My question is... Can they force us to appear in court in Maine if they decide to pursue legal action?

Re: Disputed Earnest Money
The paperwork you signed likely names Maine as the location for disputes. In addition, since the underlying transaction occured in Maine, its Court will have Jurisdiction.
