Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maine

Storage building contents

My first question was not clear; I apologize. We have a storage building where we rent out spots for cars, motorcycles, boats, etc. We have two motorcycles stored here, and the owner of the bikes passed away last week. Who has the legal right to remove the motorcycles from storage?

Re: Storage building contents

Thanks for clarifying. The short answer is whoever has title to the motorcycles can remove them. But if that person is the deceased, then you will need to wait until title transfers, and that may be a while. You can bill the estate for storage fees.

Depending on what the contract says, you will likely need to keep storing them until title gets cleared up.

Feel free to contact me if you have other questions.
