Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maine

Trespass

I recently acquired property in Maine on which area residents have been using as ATV/Snowmobile trails. I don't mind that they do it, I just do not want any legal obligations should they get hurt. What should I do?

You should go to the State of Maine website and review Maine statute 14 mrs 159-A. This statute details that a landowner does not have liability to those who use the land recreationally. The common practice has always been to post that the and that it is to be used will be at the user's risk, but the statute states that posting the land is no longer necessary.
