Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Maine
If a comment is not directed to a particular person, is it still sexual harassme
I would like to know if my son was justly accused of sexual harassment, based on the following situation. My son recently was given one day of in-school suspension for supposedly sexually harassing a girl in his class. He told a friend of his that this girl looked like she had breast implants. The friend then repeated it to the girl, and the next day she told someone at the school what was said. My son got in-school suspension and the friend who repeated the comment to her got a detention. As far as I know it is not sexual harassment unless the comment was directly TO the other person, not repeated by a second party. I want to know if this is true. I feel my son has been unfairly penalized for this, and as it will be in his school record, I would like to ''clear the air'' so to speak, in my own mind if nothing else. Thank you for any help.

Apparently your son's school officals never hear of the U.S. Constitution's guarantee of freedom of speech. Your son did nothing wrong by expressing his opinion. He may have been insensitive, but that's about it.
