Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maine
Excluding my children
I don't want to leave my children anything. My oldest son gives everything to his church and my youngest is an alcoholic. I have two young women, both in college who have been very good to me and would like to make sure that they get everything when I die. What is the legal way of stating such a request?
Thank you

Re: Excluding my children
I strongly advise you to seek the counsel of an experienced estate planning lawyer to draft the Will in such as way as to minimize the chance that your disappointed sons will challenge it in Probate Court. The Will should be videotaped and should recite why you are making the conscious choice. Otherwise the Will could be attacked as a result of undue influence or lack of capacity on your part.
You can do a Will on your own as a "holographic" Will, but it will be vulnerable to challenge.
