Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maine

If my father just died a couple months ago and he had a collection of guns that i stored at my house and he had given them to me years before he died, would they be apart of the estate or mine to keep?

Gifts are gifts and not part of an estate. Proof of a gift is a different story since there is typically no paperwork to show a gift, but your physical posession of the gifts for the past few years should be the best evidence. If the Will refers to passing of the guns to someone other than yourself, it is possible that the Personal Representative of the Estate may feel that the guns were just "stored" with you and not gifts and seek their return.
