life insurance
I was named as designee in my ex husbands life insurance. He passed away without leaving a will. do I have to go through probate to receive this?

You should deal directly with the insurer and if you can satisfy their requirements and are a beneficiary under the terms of the policy, even if other potential beneficiaries may not be happy, you should be able to recover without issue. I have assisted clients with that process as a protective measure or for client convenience.
