Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maine
My mom died jsut 4 days before my 13th birthday. My aunt who is currently living in massachusetts is refusing to stay in contact with me and i am now 19 years old. I have tried the past 2 weeks to get my aunt to send me a copy of my moms will, but again, she refuses to stay in contact with me. The reason why i am needing acopy of my moms will is because it has come to my mind that me, and my other brother have been cheated illegally out on a substancial amount of money. I am currently living in california so it is a little harder for me to get this information. My mom died in maine, if thats any help. Is there any laws for/around this that i should possibly know about? PLEASE HELP!!!

Your mother's will is a public document, so can be obtained from the probate court where she lived. There is an online service where you can search for it: http://www.maineprobate.net/
You mother should have assigned a personal representative to administer the will (this might have been your aunt), and they would have been responsible for having your mother's assets distributed. If that was not done properly, you may need to pursue a legal action.
There is an issue of time as it has been 6 years since your mother passed, so you may need to act quickly.
