Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maine
My mother lives in Maine and has legal guardianship of an adult male (significant other, not married). My mother wants to transfer guardianship to one of the man's adult children. However, another of the man's children is contesting and wants guardianship. My mother is stuck in the middle. Should she consult with an attorney?

That depends on what role the adult child to whom your mother wants to transfer guardianship is playing. It is really that persons responsibility to show the Court why it is in the best interests of the ward (person under guardianship) for the guardian ship to be trasnferred form your mother to him/her, and not to the other sibling. Your mother's role really would be to support but not to lead the fight. The lawyer should be hired by that child.
