Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maine
Parent passed 14 months ago with a good size estate. Spouse is exc. of estate and a beneficary also. The estate inventory was not correctly done by spouse. Property missing, given away. How long do you have to wait in Maine to get the estate settled.

There is no specific timeline to settle an estate, but as an heir you can certainly seek Orders from the Court if you feel the estate is not being handled properly. The Statute requires the Personal representative to prepare and file the inventory 3 months after appointment, but that deadline is not automotically enforced. Feel free to call with other questions, my firm assists both Personal representatives in settling estates, as well as litigation by heirs.
