persoanal Representative Designee

Person designated as personal rep in a witnessed will. state assets small50000?) . only beneficieries 2 sisters one of whom is the designee. She is also on all bank accounts. Does she have to go thru probate court to get formal designation as personal rep- State of Maine

yes- the Will still needs to be filed with the Probate Court for the PR to obtain letters of authority from the Court. It can be submitted "informally" which is a more simple filing since the Will is not likely to be opposed by anyone-
