Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maine
If a will states "I give all of my personal items, such as jewelry, clothing, photographs, collectibles and any items which I may have received from my family members, in equal shares to my children" mean only the items listed or does it mean all my personal items?

The way you have it written would likely be interpreted as including all of your personal items, not just what is listed. I suggest you speak with a lawyer to make sure your will does what you want it to. A properly written will should provide the executor clear direction on how to distribute assets. If there is ambiguities, there is the potential for unnecessary disputes to arise.
