Legal Question in Disability Law in Maryland
An officer with parole & probation came to my parents house today looking for an ex boyfriend. The officer began to ask my children questions & told them if I was caught with my ex they would be put in foster care & Id go to jail. Is it legal for them to have been questioning my children & telling them such lies?

Unless the officer had a warrant, you did not have to let them in your home in the first place. You were certainly not under any obligation to allow him/her to interview your children. There is nothing illegal about what the officer did or said -- it was your decision to let them speak with your children and there is no law preventing the police from lying to or scaring your children. What the officer said is immoral, but not illegal. Don't let the officer back in your house again without a warrant. I would also hire a Maryland family law attorney so that if the officer comes back, you have someone to immediately call.
