You cannot. This is one date that cannot be extended.

Re: Extension of the 30 Day Appeal Period

In what court?

From Md. District Court to Circuit Court, or from Md. Circuit Court to Special Appeals, you can't extend the deadline except by filing a motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict, for a new trial, or to alter or amend the judgment, within 10 days after entry of judgment.

In federal court, a motion for extension of time is allowed for good cause or excusable neglect, to allow up to 30 extra days or 10 days from the order, whichever is longer, if filed within 30 days from the due date of the notice, or if notice of the judgment was not received, up to 180 days. See Fed. R. App. P. Rule 4(a)(5-6).

Note that there should generally be no problem filing a timely appeal, since the notice is a one-liner.
