The debtor can convert a case by filing a motion. Be sure to evaluate the carefully. Consult with your bankruptcy attorney first.

You can convert a 13 to a 7. There is no "chapter 5 case" (Chapter 5 of the bankruptcy code contains general provisions applicable to cases under all chapters (7, 9, 11, 12, 13).
