Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland

Chapter 13 BK for judgement

I have a sizeable judgement against me. An order has been confirmed for the plaintiff's Petition to Confirm Arbitration Award. I am unemplyed but will be starting a new job soon. I do not own any assets. How can they get this money from me if I don't have it? Can this judgement be discharged in a Chapter 13 BK? Can they garnish my wages when I begin to work? If they can, how long does this process take? Thank you for your help

Re: Chapter 13 BK for judgement

It can be discharged in a Chapter 13 or Chapter 7, unless it's for a debt incurred by fraud or certain other specific types of claims. Even if you don't have assets, a creditor can garnish wages, so bankruptcy may make sense for you. We handle bankruptcy matters in Md. and would be pleased to discuss this with you.
