Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland
Chapter 13
Why would a lawyer get paid again during a Chapter 13 when they were paid the full amount up front. And how much should there fees be if they are supposed to get paid again during the filing

Re: Chapter 13
Typically, Chapter 13 attorneys receive only a portion of the full fee before the case is filed, with the balance to be paid through the Chapter 13 Plan. The amount of the pre-filing fee varies tremendously from attorney to attorney and from case to case.
Check your retainer agreement; it should clearly disclose both the pre-filing portion of the fee and the total fee.
