Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland
chapter 13 questions.
if you get sick the day of your confirmation hearing and are in the hospital, how do you go about recheduling the confirmation hearing?
is there anyway you can add a spouse to a 13 you filed already?

Re: chapter 13 questions.
If you have a lawyer, call your lawyer and the lawyer will contact the court and trustee and request a continuance. If you don't have counsel, you will have to do it. If you missed the hearing and an order was entered denying confirmation with or without leave to amend, you will need to file a motion to reconsider.
As for adding a spouse, there is no way to do so directly. Your spouse can file a separate case and then move to consolidate. But it may not be necessary, and there are serious risks and consequences from doing this that you may be better off avoiding.
If you don't have a lawyer, GET ONE NOW. Chapter 13 is no place for amateurs or do-it-yourself'ers. The stakes are too great. And since in many cases the fees for a lawyer are paid from assets/income that would otherwise be paid to creditors, it could end up costing you nothing.
