Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland

Discrimination or Harrassment?

4 years ago my husband and i filed a chapter 7 bankruptcy. We defaulted on 1 of our loans with our credit union. My husband is the sponsor of my account and is also a joint holder. whenever he goes into the credit union they give him a bunch of grief about depositing checks. there is a red flag on my account that says do not grant any services to my husband because he defaulted on a loan. when the teller looks at this they will go and get a bank manager and take him through all of these changes, but then then they go ahead and let him make the deposits to the account. today when he went into the bank to make a deposit they told him that he had an unsafe check and did not let him make the transaction. he still has an account with this credit union and it has not been closed by them or him. i have looked through all of our documentation for answers on if a loan is defaulted on can they stop services for him there is no documnetation anywhere saying that they have the right to humiliate my husband everytime he comes in there. i need to know if there is any legal actions that can be bought against them. they are not consistant with what they are doing. i think they are just harrassing my husband for something we had no control over.

Re: Discrimination or Harrassment?

As a shareholder in your credit union, you have some rights that are documented as part as your credit union-member agreement. Review this agreement and then ask the credit union to show you the policy in writing that it is following regarding you and your husband.
