Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland
Filing Bankruptcy
I want to file bankruptcy to help save my house from foreclosure but do not know if it is too late, or how long the process takes? I just got the letter from the attorney's office for my mortgage company after being three months behind.

Re: Filing Bankruptcy
The pre filing counseling can be completed via the internet, that is a minor delay. As for the foreclosure, you will have to file before the auction happens. This can be accomplished in a rather short time, but you must be proactive to have the filing done before the sale.
If you do not already have an attorney, it is best that you contact one asap to assit you through your legal issue.
Re: Filing Bankruptcy
You must first attend pre-filing counseling before filing for bankruptcy. You may have some time to stay a potential foreclosure proceeding but not much especially given the amount of time you have been in arrears.
