Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland
Garnished wages
My wages are being garnished because of a debt owed to a creditor, however, after garnishing my wages, I don't have enough to pay my mortgage. I reside in the State of Maryland. Would I be able to file a homestead for the garnished wages?

Re: Garnished wages
Maryland does not have a "homestead," and the exempt portion of your wages is already being exempted and paid to you. You may want to consider either trying to work out a settlement with the creditor, or, failing that, the possibility of filing bankruptcy.
We handle bankruptcy matters in MD and would be glad to discuss your options with you.
