Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland
judgement dismissed
I got a court judgement against a person who owed me money from a personal loan. A month later, the person filed for Chapter 7. My attorney had already filed papers for garnishment of wages.
I received notice 3 months later of the dischage.
What happens now?
My attorney will not return my calls or respond to my letters/fax for status on the case?

Can You Collect a Judgment After Bankruptcy?
Once the debt has been discharged, you have no ability to collect it. Any attempt to do so would constitute a violation of the Court's Discharge Order. IOW, you're SOL.
Your only possible hope is that the judgment was filed as or constituted a lien on real property owned by the debtor and that no steps were taken to avoid the lien. In this limited situation, you can enforce the lien by foreclosing on the property.
