I am planning to fill a chapter 7 within the next 35 to 60 days.I,ve been hearing on the news about new laws coming.Most of my debt is credit cards.Will the new laws affect me.

The conference report contains a delayed effective date of 180 days after enactment for virtually all provisions, so it will likely not affect you directly. But now is the time to contact your Senators and Representatives and encourage them to vote against this misguided piece of legislation. It will not be voted on in the House until at least September, but the Senate may take it up as early as this coming week.

The bankruptcy reform legislation will affect and I think harm a great deal of Americans. If you are thinking about filing you should consult an experienced bankruptcy sooner than later. If the legislation is passed by congress and signed by the president the effective date will at this point be 180 days.
