In Maryland, How often can one file a bankruptcy? from date of filing or date of discharge?

You can technically file as often as you want, but (as would be typical) if you want a discharge in Chapter 7 and had a prior Chapter 7 discharge, your case must be filed at least 8 years after the filing date of the prior case. With regard to other chapters, all time periods are measured filing to filing. Chapter 13 to Chapter 13 is 2 years; Chapter 7 to Chapter 13 is 4 years; Chapter 13 to Chapter 7 is 6 years (unless the 13 paid 100% or 70% and you made best efforts, in which case there is no waiting period); and Chapter 7 to Chapter 7 is 8 years. These are nationwide standards and do not apply just to Md.
