Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland

Can the mortgage company forclose on my mortage if I declare personal bankruptcy,and what would I be entitled to keep.Do I lose my car? Could I keep any savings I have. What exactly does the law say.

The answer depends on a number of factors: which chapter of the bankruptcy code you file under, whether your mortgage payments are current, whether there is any equity in your home, etc. In most bankruptcies, people keep everything they have, but the exceptions are many.
