Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
Business checks
Was it illegal to sign a business owners name on a company check even if I was instructed to do so by the business owner? These checks were used for legitimate business purposes, not for personal gain. If yes, what are the possible penalties for doing so?

Re: Business checks
If you had the authority of the checking account owner to sign his name to checks for business purposes, it would not be illegal. Just to protect yourself, it might be best to get an authorization from the owner, especially if this is going to be an ongoing situation.
