Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland

Business 1 dba Business 2

I have been sued and will go

to court. On one of the many documents that was sent to me, which includes bills of sales and other legal info, there is space for original client and the wrong company was entered. My original doucment was issued by 'Business 1' and later sold to 'Buisness 2' Now in the court documents 'Business 2' was entered as the original client. Is that legal? On another page they hand wrote 'Business 1' dba 'Business 2', can I request validation on that grounds? 'Business 1' and 'Business 2' are two different companies for what all I know.

I just upon research found out that 'Business 2' is under investigation, can that be used as supporting documents in court.

Re: Business 1 dba Business 2

While your dealings may have been with #1, it's possible that #2 is a successor company that bought out #1. In this scenario, #2 acquires the legal rights of #1. Depending on how much you have been sued for, you could conduct discovery pretrial and find out the full story. You might learn that #2 is an improper party and that could give you grounds for dismissal.

An experienced trial attorney would know how to accomplish this, as well as how to properly prepare your defense. But there are time limits on when these things must be completed, so you should act promptly to protect your legal rights.
