Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
Contract law
I am a party to a contract for services. The other party asked me to withhold documents that were subpoenaed in an unrelated matter to which he was a party. I don't want to do business with this other party as a result of his request to withhold--it shows he cannot be trusted and is unethical. The contract is silent as to bad acts. Is his request grounds to have the contract void and unenforceable?

Re: Contract law
The contract and obligations of performance are at issue. If the object of the contract relates to the request for information to be withheld, an assurance under the contract, or executory aspects of your contract then a question of adequacy of consideration may bring rise to action on your part. Other actions may exist. Penalties apply to not complying with a court order. Contact an attorney to review the contract and discuss the details. Free initial consultation.
