Copyright on legal documents?
Are legal documents copyrighted? If I see a legal form that I want to use, can I just use it?

Re: Copyright on legal documents?
Presumably you saw the form on a website, in a law book, or purchased it from an office supply store. These docs are all in the public domain and you can use them without infringing on a copyright.
Re: Copyright on legal documents?
A legal form that is placed into the public domain can be used. Consult the disclaimer often associated with many sources of these forms. It may indicate what the form really is or is not.
There are numerous forms on the Maryland Courts website as well as on Lawguru.
A form may not necessarily address your specific legal requirement.
Contact an attorney should you require assistance with a legal matter.
