Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
My customer refuses to pay for services
I am a an independent designer operating a small business from my home. I have a customer with whom I had a verbal agreement to pay $75.00 per hour for an inhome consultation and $500 for a set of plans and specifications. I provided the materials, and consult, sent an invoice for $650 and she send me a check for $75.00. She has kept my work. I do not have any written contract - shame on me - but we did have a verbal agreement. We had several meetings to discuss and plan her project. 3 of which were in her home, one in her office. Do I have any recourse????
Thanks for your input.

Re: My customer refuses to pay for services
Yes you have recourse. You may collect on the basis of the oral contract but specific aspects need to be addressed. More important is your need for written contracts and possibly to establish better business practices. My fees will be scaled to the size of the recoverable amount. I am available should you want to enhance your contractual remedy on a prospective basis. Contact me should you want to discuss. (410) 799-9002.
