Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
I am an engineer that signed a release of responsibility (both parties signed the agreement) for a job and paid compensation to the homeowner. After two years the house is complete and an additional amount of engineering expenses were incurred so the homeowner wants to sue me to get the money stating that I was still responsible for the job

You need to have this agreement reviewed by an attorney to get a definitive answer to your question. If the document was a well-drafted full and final release of all further responsibility on your part, it should protect you against the current claim.
