Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
Use of a Famous Name
If I were to use the name "Stallone" in an advertisement, would it be possible for my company to get into trouble? It would be understood that I was referring to Sly Stallone, but would not use his entire name. This ad would only be seen in the State of Maryland.

Re: Use of a Famous Name
It might depend on the way you used the name. If you didn't imply that Stallone was involved in the business or endorsed the product you're selling, but were only using it in a humorous way, it might pass muster. But if he protests, you might get involved in a litigation situation you don't need.
