Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
filing suit against a stock broker
A number of years ago, I invested in a number of stocks. The stocks appreciated in value; only later depreciate. I was never informed by the stock broker that I could put a ''stop'' on the stocks or notified of their decline. I was away on business when this happened and expected a call from the broker.
What is the statute of limitations re. filing suit against the stock broker?
Thanks.

Re: filing suit against a stock broker
Your agreement with the brokerage house undoubtedly calls for arbitration of any disputes. But I see no merit to your claim in any event. Fluctuations in the market are the risk we all take, and absent any affirmative knowing misrepresentations of fact by the broker, you won't get anywhere. For more info, contact NASD or the SEC.
