can i be fired
I got punched in the face during my lunch break at work got up defended myself and im getting fired too. How is this possible?

It's a common misconception that you have a "right" to your job. Unless you have a contract, like an athlete, you are an employee at will and can be fired for almost any reason. If your company has an employee manual setting out a grievance procedure in these situations, or if this is a union job, you have a right to utilize those procedures to protest your firing. If you are a minority and can establish that your firing was handled differently than other similar cases involving non-minorities, you might have a viable civil rights claim. Otherwise, the company had a legal right to do what it did. If you've been there a while and have an otherwise good record, maybe they'd reconsider if you asked for a meeting.
