Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
Husband works as a salesman in home improvement as an independent contractor. He is leaving his current position and wants all of his back end payments. The company refuses does he have any recourse?

It all depends. Maryland law imposes strict requirements for paying employees their wages while true independent contractors do not receive wages. Instead, payments should be governed by the terms of their contract. (In some cases, an employee may be improperly classified as an "independent contractor") Assuming your question involves a true independent contractor, if the business is refusing to honor the terms of its contract, the contractor might explore filing suit for breach of contract. It may be that the contract does not call for "back end" payments after service terminates.
