Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
Can an LLC own stock?
I want to know if an LLC can own another companies shares of stock. For some reason, I read somewhere that an LLC cannot own a C corp. The main reason I'm asking this is I want to use an LLC (which is own by my Inc.) to raise capital by the purchasing and selling of stock.
Thanks

Re: Can an LLC own stock?
An LLC is a legal entity and as such can own stock in corporations and generally do anything any other business entity can do. If you have access to the Maryland Code, which is available online, I suggest you review Sec. 4A-203 of the Corporations Article for further information.
