Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
If I am on a monthly lease and I am buying a home can I BE FORCED to pay for two extra months instead of just the next month? For instance, in October I wrote a letter to state that November will be my last month paying rent and I have been informed that I am required to pay for 60 days instead of 30.

The answer to your question depends on the language in the lease. If there is a provision that requires you to give 60 days notice to terminate, then you are responsible for that period. Otherwise, if your original lease ran out and you didn't sign a new lease and have just continued to live there and pay month to month, then you should be able to terminate the lease as you did by giving 30 days' notice.
